D & R Technical Solutions has been awarded a contract from Kawasaki Rail Car, Inc. to develop Manuals, Training Material and provide Training Instruction for the addition of a Café Car to the M-8 consist. In 2013 D & R was awarded a similar contract for an S-Car that was also added to the M-8 consist. D & R has been supporting the Manuals and Training efforts for Kawasaki on the base M-8 new railcar contract since 2007.

D & R Technical Solutions, Inc., announced today that it has been awarded the next phase contract in support of the new flightsuit for the US Air Force. The flightsuit will replace current pilot and flight crew gear and will provide updated G-force, environmental and chem-bio protection. D & R's effort includes the development of a training plan as well as the technical manual, which will include both operation and maintenance procedures. The contract includes national and international partners and will extend through the 2017 fiscal year.

D & R Technical Solutions, Inc., announced today that it has been awarded a fixed price contract to generate a Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) for Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth, Texas. This represents a follow on award for D & R and continues a long standing relationship with that Lockheed Martin division.

Today D & R Technical Solutions, Inc., announced it has been awarded a contract to create an SGML instance of a USAF Technical Order (TO) for an Air Purging Unit. According to a D & R spokesperson, "we've been told by customers that we are on a very short list of companies recommended by the government to successfully provide this service." Along with the SGML instance, D & R will provide an Indexed PDF (IPDF).

D & R Technical Solutions, Inc., was awarded a contract to develop training materials to support the U.S. Army in support of two industrial asphalt mixing plants. The Army will be taking possession of this equipment in the near term and requires training ahead of that to ensure proper installation and support of this equipment. This is a follow on effort for D & R, who supported the program for several years and provided numerous support products, including technical manuals, safety reports, transportability reports and provisioning data.

D & R Technical Solutions, Inc., is proud to announce that it has successfully completed its third consecutive verification as a Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB) and is listed in the Veteran business database at www.vip.vetbiz.gov. The verification process is conducted by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Center for Verification and Evaluation (CVE). This verification was the most stringent D & R has undergone. When the Department of Veterans Affairs was questioned on why the increased scrutiny, they responded by saying that they are committed to ensuring only legitimate businesses earn VOSB status.

D & R Technical Solutions, Inc. has announced the award of two new contracts from Kawasaki Rail Car, Inc., in support of the Metro-North Railroad M-8 car. The first is to research, develop, publish, and print the Carbody Structural Repair Manual, working from engineering data in concert with Kawasaki engineering. The second is to research, develop, and publish the Tool and Test Equipment Manual. This manual will be created based on data provided by suppliers of the various tools and test equipment used for M-8 car maintenance.

D & R Technical Solutions, Inc. is pleased to announce that Nathan M. Oliva, a Senior at Binghamton High School, was selected to receive the annual Valerie and Devin Spears Memorial Scholarship. Selection of this year's recipient was extremely difficult as many well qualified students applied. Nathan was chosen because the owners of D & R felt he was the applicant that most closely fit the criteria. Nathan received the scholarship at the Binghamton High School Award ceremony on May 28, 2015.


Valerie Spears worked at D & R from 1993 until her and Devin's tragic death in 2002. Every year since then D & R has offered a $500 scholarship to Binghamton High School students. Applicants must meet criteria that the company feels best described Valerie: seeking to continue education in a technical or engineering field, have a B or greater average, and active in school and extracurricular activities. They must also compose a 500-word essay on why they believe they are the correct candidate.


Valerie's daughter Devin, was a common face in D & R's office. When Devin was done with rehearsals at the Endicott Performing Arts Center (EPAC) Theater, which is within convenient walking distance from D & R, she would sit in an empty cubicle and work on her homework until Valerie was done for the day. Nothing can replace their loss, but the company offers this scholarship to keep their memory alive.

D & R Technical Solutions, Inc. has announced today that Siemens Industry, Inc., has awarded D & R a contract to develop the documentation necessary for Siemens to meet its source data requirements for the LIRR (Long Island Rail Road) M-9 car Integrated Schematics Manual. The effort will include developing a device table and wire list and publishing a document incorporating that data along with schematic narrative.

D & R Technical Solutions, Inc. announced today the award of a contract from Merak NA to develop source documentation to support Merak's Final Design Review delivery for the Long Island Rail Road M-9 car, being built by Kawasaki Rail Car, Inc. Merak is providing the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) system for the M-9 car and D & R will be providing a Maintenance Allocation Chart and manuals source data for the Maintenance Manual and Illustrated Parts Catalog, as well supporting Merak during a review by Kawasaki and LIRR.

D & R Technical Solutions, Inc. announced today the award of a contract from Knorr Brake Company to develop source documentation to support Knorr's Final Design Review delivery for the LIRR (Long Island Rail Road) M-9 car, being built by Kawasaki Rail Car, Inc. Knorr is supplying the brake system for the M-9 car and D & R will be developing manuals source data for the Maintenance Manual and Illustrated Parts Catalog, as well supporting Knorr during a review by Kawasaki and LIRR.

D & R Technical Solutions, Inc., announced today the award of a contract to develop and deliver CBT (Computer-based Training) for Kawasaki Rail Car, Inc., in support of the WMATA (Washington Metro Area Transit Authority) 7000 Series rail cars. The CBT will be designed to allow an instructor to demonstrate the functional relationship between several rail car systems, including how various faults will affect these systems and overall rail car operation. D & R is already under contract with Kawasaki to develop and publish the technical manuals for the WMATA 7000 rail car project, as well as for selected aspects of the training program.

D & R was selected for this task because of its long history of producing high quality SGML / XML products for the armed services. D & R Technical Solutions, Inc., announced today that it has been awarded a contract to conduct reliability analysis and develop Failure Mode, Effectivity and Criticality Analysis (FMECAs) in support of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. D & R Technical Solutions, Inc. was awarded a Mission Oriented Business Integrated Services (MOBIS) - Schedule 874 (contract no. GS-02F-130BA) with the General Services Administrative (GSA). The blanket contract allows local, state and federal agencies to easily and quickly purchase D & R's services to meet their requirements.


The contract covers all areas of Training, from developing training materials and manuals to conducting classroom instruction. It also includes the development of Computer-Based Training (CBT). Initially D & R plans to satisfy the needs of government entities utilizing its existing staff made up of technical writers, trainers, graphic illustrators, proofer/editors, and quality assurance personnel. The company will monitor the increased workload brought on by this contract and will add additional staff as needed.

D & R Technical Solutions, Inc., announced today it has won a multi-million, multi-year, competitive contract to provide technical manuals and an electronic technical manual for the new M-9 railcar for the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR). The prime contract was awarded to Kawasaki Railcar, Inc., of Yonkers, NY, who will manufacture and provide the railcars. The contract also contains options to develop and provide training, additional car configurations for LIRR, and additional car configurations for the Metro-North Railroad. If all options are exercised, D & R's contract value will increase several fold.

D & R will also be developing an operator and maintainer manual and training material to be used in support of this equipment. D & R Technical Solutions, Inc., announced today that Kawasaki Rail Car, Inc., has awarded D & R a contract to develop a Fault Management Plan database for the LIRR (Long Island Rail Road) M-9 passenger rail car. The database is to be used to develop, maintain, and analyze fault logic for the Kawasaki-built M-9 rail car onboard and wayside computerized diagnostics systems. This advanced database tool will dynamically link various data sets into a single, easy-to-use interface and provide the capability to import information from and export information to a number of different related applications.

D & R Technical Solutions, Inc., announced today that it is now a qualified supplier of Computer-Based Training (CBT) for the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). Earlier in the day, D & R demonstrated working samples of recent 3D troubleshooting simulation applications to a panel at CTA. At the conclusion of the presentation, CTA informed D & R that it was now approved as a CBT supplier for CTA projects.

D & R Technical Solutions, Inc., has announced the award of a contract from Alstom Signaling to develop technical manuals and training materials to support their Positive Train Control (PTC) equipment being installed on rolling stock and locomotives for New Jersey Transit (NJT). Alstom Signaling is an industry leader in signaling and train control technology.

According to the Federal Railway Administration (FRA): "PTC systems will improve railroad safety by significantly reducing the probability of collisions between trains, casualties to roadway workers and damage to their equipment, and over speed accidents." The FTC has mandated adoption of PTC systems by the end of 2015.

D & R is contracted to develop operation and maintenance manuals to support Alstom ASES II PTC systems. ASES is an acronym for Advanced Speed Enforcement System. In addition to technical manuals, D & R will create training materials that will be used to instruct operators, maintainers, and support personnel on the ASES II PTC equipment.

D & R Technical Solutions, Inc., announced today that it has been awarded a contract to support a new Water and Fuel Pump Unit for the US Marine Corps. The multi-year contract will require D & R to conduct initial maintenance and supportability analyses and to generate provisioning data, training material as well as a technical manual.

The new Pump Unit is a towable item, capable of producing flow of 600 Gallons-Per-Minute (GPM) to support USMC fueling and hydration activity. D & R will support the program from initial development and test through production and fielding.

D & R Technical Solutions, Inc., announced today that it has been awarded a contract to develop a software program to support equipment repairs for the US Navy. This program will allow entry of contractual information, equipment data, repair data, cost, and turnaround times. The program will also allow performance metrics to be tracked and reviewed. The contract is part of a development effort intended to replace legacy systems, with follow on opportunities expected.

The multi-year contract will require D & R to research current FAA task performance and develop training material to support the introduction of the new system. D & R Technical Solutions, Inc., announced today that it has been awarded a contract by Siemens Transportation Systems to develop 12 new troubleshooting scenarios for the R160 Railcar 3D Troubleshooting Simulator, which is located at New York City Transit's (NYCT) Learning Center in Brooklyn, NY. Siemens Transportation Systems designed and produced state-of-the-art propulsion systems used in R160 railcars built by Kawasaki Rail Car, Inc., for NYCT. R160 railcars are the most advanced in NYCT's current fleet.
