OUR POSITIONS INCLUDE

TECHNICAL WRITERS

Duties include experience in various aspects of technical documentation development.

  • Developing simplified theory of operation and block diagrams for electrical, electronic, system networks, and / or mechanical equipment
  • Developing fault isolation and troubleshooting procedures for electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment.
  • Developing maintenance (repair, replacement) procedures.
  • Writing removal and installation procedures.
  • Working with graphic arts personnel in support of publication effort.
  • Working with desktop publishing personnel in support of publication effort.
  • Participation in project, department and/or customer program meetings and reviews.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Superior communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Experience in a technical field, with excellent working knowledge of technical documentation, including manuals and training material.
  • Availability of secure and reliable internet connection for work from home activity
  • Ability to work within a defined scope to meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and schematic diagrams.
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, Access.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Veteran / Military experience a plus.

TECHNICAL TRAINERS

Duties include technical training material development and conduct. Subjects include systems of modest complexity and equipment type (mechanical, electro-mechanical, etc.).

  • Front-end analysis (task and skills analysis) and creation of training materials, including training plans, curriculum outlines, instructor guides, student guides, training media, and exams. Conduct of courses will normally occur at a customer location.

Additional experience sought includes:

  • Development of training plans and material using Instructional System Design (ISD) principles
  • Training material development including multi-media data for eLearning, IMI and CBT courses

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience / knowledge of technical subjects, e.g., electrical or mechanical
  • Skilled with MS Office applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Computer Based Training (CBT) development, Articulate experience a plus
  • Availability of secure and reliable internet connection for work from home activities
  • Ability to attend occasional in-office meetings
  • Travel to customer locations for training conduct
  • Transit / Rail Industry Experience a plus
  • Veteran / Military Experience a plus

D & R operates in a mostly remote environment, occasional office visits will be necessary for project meetings and activities.

TECHNICAL ILLUSTRATORS

Duties include experience in various aspects of technical documentation development.

  • Develop technical artwork and graphics to support maintenance and parts catalog documentation
  • Interpret engineering drawings, writer’s sketches, and other source information to develop technical manual artwork using computer graphics software
  • Work in a team environment along with Technical Writers and Desktop Publishers
  • Be able to follow detailed instructions and specifications

Qualifications and Experience

  • Knowledge of graphic software programs, including CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop
  • Knowledge of CAD programs and 3D models is desired but not mandatory
  • Availability of secure and reliable internet connection for work from home activity
  • Ability to work to deadlines individually and as part of a team
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office applications; Word, Excel, Access
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

LOGISTICS / PRODUCT SUPPORT ANALYSTS

PUBLISHERS

As a Desktop Publisher, you will be responsible for formatting and producing various technical manuals, reports, and documents as part of a collaborative workflow process.

  • Utilizing publishing software and customer specifications to design page layouts for manuals, training material, reports, etc. that can be printed and/or electronically accessed
  • Incorporating data developed by technical writers and illustrators into formatted documents, with final products ranging from PDFs to XML tagged data
  • Participation in project, department and/or customer program meetings and reviews.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Good working knowledge of publishing software programs (Adobe FrameMaker, Arbortext, etc.)
  • Good working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat (markup tools, deleting/inserting multiple PDFs, bookmarks, etc.)
  • Detail oriented - Attention to details such as margins, font sizes, and the overall appearance and accuracy of their work
  • Organizational skills – Work on multiple projects in a single day. Must be good at prioritizing tasks based on provided schedules
  • Communication skills –Work as part of a team with writers, editors, and illustrators
  • The following program experience/knowledge are pluses:
    • XML/SGML (Ex. Arbortext Editor)
    • Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Access
